Dr. Anna Owen, M.D. & Co-Founder
Dr. Anna Owen is one of the founders of Keystone Physicians DPC, building this practice after a lifetime of passion for medicine. She is a licensed, board-certified family medicine physician focused on building deep relationships with patients to improve their medical outcomes and overall quality of life.
Education and Early Experience
After graduating from University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, she took a gap year before starting medical school to gain first-hand experience working with patients. During this time, she worked as a nursing assistant at Allegheny General Hospital in the neurology step down unit where she provided direct patient care as part of the medical team. Following this year as a nursing assistant, Dr. Owen attended Drexel University College of Medicine, where she graduated with her M.D. in 2022.
While at Drexel, Dr. Owen gravitated toward family medicine because this field of practice gives doctors a unique opportunity to collaborate with patients across each phase of their lives. This ultimately led Dr. Owen back to the Pittsburgh area for her residency in family medicine. In July 2025, Dr. Owen graduated from her residency program at Forbes Family Medicine at Allegheny Health Network in Monroeville, PA. Additionally, she is currently completing the curriculum for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine to deepen her knowledge of lifestyle medicine and better support her current and future patients.
Why Direct Primary Care
She launched Keystone Physicians Direct Primary Care to provide a comprehensive, proactive, and value-driven alternative to traditional primary care. Dr. Owen’s values align with the principles of direct primary care, which has been shown to enhance patient-centeredness, continuity, and accessibility while valuing the relationship between patient and physician.
Outside the Clinic
When Dr. Owen is not practicing medicine, you can find her in her garden growing vegetables and flowers, spending time with her three cats, and cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams.
“I started Keystone Physicians Direct Primary Care because every person deserves a doctor who knows them, listens, and is there when they need care — not weeks later. Too often, good medicine is lost in rushed visits and red tape. Keystone was built to change that — a place where patients feel known, not managed; cared for, not processed. Healthcare should be personal, transparent, and accessible — and that’s exactly what we’re rebuilding here in our community.”
